Crumb-topped pies and crisps are my favorites. Dutch Apple Pie (topped with crumbs) just cannot be beat! So many of my favorite desserts use a crumb topping. Try this one, it’s my favorite.
What you need:
- 5 T. unsalted butter
- 1/2 c. packed brown sugar
- 3/4 c. quick-cooking oats
- 1/2 c. flour
- 1 t. cinnamon
- 1/2-1 c. chopped nuts, optional
- microwave-safe bowl
- measuring cups and spoons
Time: 5 minutes prep, plus baking time according to recipe
Serves: This will top a 9″ pie or an 8″x8″ crisp.
Multiplying the recipe: This is easily doubled, just be sure your bowl is large enough!
In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter. Add the remaining ingredients and mix until combined and crumbly. Sprinkle over a fruit pie or crisp before baking.
