Pie Crust Showdown!

Pie recipes are something of legacy. Everyone always remembers their Grandma’s apple pie, or the pumpkin pie that their dad makes every year for Thanksgiving. With holiday season just around the corner, Katie and I decided to have our next Showdown between the major players in pie crusts:

So what did our tasters think?

The All-Butter Crust clearly won on taste. For the texture, there was a more even split between All-Shortening and Butter and Shortening. Shortening gives the added benefit of flakiness where the flavor may fall flat. If you care more for the texture than the flavor, then All-Shortening is the crust for you. My vote is for the Butter and Shortening, where you can have some flakiness without sacrificing on the flavor.
